The Igor Fokin Memorial Sculpture can be found in what is nominally Brattle Square which is itself in Harvard Square.

Igor Fokin was a popular puppeteer who often performed on or near the spot. He passed suddenly in 1996. The memorial was installed in Fall of 2001.

The installation is composed of two elements. A six inch statue of the puppet Doo Doo, Mr. Fokin’s most popular creation, sits on one of the several granite columns in the area. He plays his little nose flute as if he is awaiting his master’s return.

At the foot of the column, inlaid with the masonry of the sidewalk are three inscribed bronze bricks. They read in part:

IN MEMORY OF BELOVED PUPPETEER IGOR FOKIN 1960 -1996

AND IN CELEBRATION OF ALL STREET PERFORMERS

More information about Igor Fokin and the memorial can be found here.
